Scholarships, Merit Awards and Bursaries, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts NAFA SingaporeNanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) offers a range of financial award schemes namely Scholarships, Merit Awards and Bursaries which aims at helping students cope with the cost of art education in Singapore. Over the years, we received generous donation from various donors and supporters which helped realised the dream of many students to complete their studies at NAFA.

In the coming academic year 2013/2014, we have the continued support from various donors and we are pleased to announce the commencement for the application of the Scholarships, Merit Awards and Bursaries for Diploma students from 11 January 2013 onwards till 5 April 2013.

(Note: Application of the Scholarships, Merit Awards and Bursaries for Degree students will commence from 4 March 2013 onwards till 24 May 2013)

For New Diploma Students in Academic Year 2013/14

The following are the various Scholarships, Merit Awards and Bursaries which are available for application:

Scholarships

NAFA Scholarship for SOTA Students (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students who have completed SOTA Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6
  • Singapore Citizens (SIN) who are eligible for Tuition Grant
  • Excellent academic performance especially in relevant arts subjects
  • Excellent track records in the Arts
  • Excellent portfolio interview results
  • Renewable yearly with minimum Year GPA of 3.0

Quantum: S$5,500 or waiver of tuition fees, whichever is lower

Lee Foundation Entry Scholarship (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students. SPRs and International students must be eligible for and agree to sign the Tuition Grant Deed (TGD).
  • Excellent academic performance / track records in the Arts
  • Excellent entrance test / audition results
  • Non-renewable

Quantum: S$4,000 or waiver of tuition fees, whichever is lower

Tan Chay Bing Entry Scholarship (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students
  • Excellent academic performance / track records in the Arts
  • Excellent entrance / audition test results
  • Financially needy. Gross monthly household per capita income not exceeding S$2,000
  • Non-renewable

Quantum: S$4,000

Merit Awards

NAFA Entry ASEAN Grant (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students who are citizens of ASEAN countries, except Singapore (i.e. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam)
  • Students must be eligible for and agree to sign the Tuition Grant Deed (TGD).
  • Good academic performance
  • Good entrance test/ audition results
  • Non-renewable

Quantum: S3,000

NAFA Entry Merit Award (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students
  • Students must be eligible for Tuition Grant. SPRs and International students must agree to sign the Tuition Grant Deed (TGD).
  • Good academic performance
  • Good entrance test/ audition results
  • Non-renewable

Quantum: S3,000

Bursaries

Lee Foundation Entry Bursary (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students. Students must be eligible for Tuition Grant. SPRs and International students must agree to sign the Tuition Grant Deed (TGD).
  • Satisfactory academic performance/ track records in the Arts
  • Satisfactory entrance test/audition results
  • Financially needy. Gross monthly household per capita income not exceeding $1,700

Tan Chay Bing Entry Bursary (Diploma)

  • New full-time diploma students
  • Satisfactory academic performance / track records in the Arts
  • Satisfactory entrance / audition test results
  • Financially needy. Gross monthly household per capita income not exceeding $1,700
  • Non-renewable

Tan Chin Tuan Scholarship for Creative Education (Diploma)

  • Existing full-time diploma students
  • Excellent academic performance (minimum Year GPA of 3.0 in AY2012/2013)
  • Outstanding artistic talents and industrial achievements in the Arts (eg. Public performances)
  • Financially needy. Gross monthly household per capita income not exceeding $1,700
  • Able to perform a minimum of 10 hours of community work during the award year
  • Non-renewable

Quantum: S$6,000 or waiver of tuition fees, whichever is lower

KH Tan Scholarship (Diploma)

  • Existing full-time Malaysian/ Indonesian diploma student
  • Must be a third year diploma student from the Department of Fine Art or Department of Music in AY2013/2014
  • Excellent academic performance / track records in the Arts (minimum Year GPA of 3.0 in AY2012/2013)
  • Non-renewable

Quantum: S$5,000

The Mill Design Scholarship (Diploma)

  • Existing full-time third year diploma student from the following course in AY2013/2014:
  • – Diploma in 3D Design (Interior Design)
  • – Diploma in 3D Design (Furniture Design)
  • Students must be eligible for Tuition Grant. SPR/ Int’l students must have signed the Tuition Grant Deed (TGD)
  • Excellent academic performance / track records in the Arts (minimum Year GPA of 3.0 in AY2012/2013)
  • Non-renewable

Merit Awards

The broad requirements are as follows:

Scholarships:

  • Students who possess excellent academic records and track record of achievements in the arts industry. (E.g. Won prizes in international/ regional art-related competitions)
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 for NAFA Diploma graduates; or the equivalent for non-NAFA Diploma graduates

Quantum of award: Up to full waiver of tuition fees per year

Merit Awards:

  • Students who performed well academically and have some track record of achievements in the arts industry. (E.g. Won prizes in local art-related competitions)
  • Minimum CGPA of 2.5 for NAFA Diploma graduates; or the equivalent for non-NAFA Diploma graduates

Quantum of award: Up to S$4,000 per year

Bursaries :

  • Students who are financially needy (based on household income)
  • Minimum CGPA of 1.5 for NAFA Diploma graduates; or the equivalent for non-NAFA Diploma graduates

Quantum of award: Up to S$1,500 per year
