GREAT Scholarships, University of Hull, UK

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Hull is offering 12 scholarships to students in Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam applying for postgraduate courses in September 2023.

The GREAT Scholarships 2023 programme, launched by the British Council together with 49 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 49 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The University of Hull is offering scholarships for students beginning a full time, postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2023.

One successful applicant in each of the categories listed below will receive an award of £10,000 (GBP) in the form of s a tuition fee reduction.

  • 1 x Bangladeshi student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.
  • 1 x Chinese student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Ghanaian student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Indian student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Indonesian student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Kenyan student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Malaysian student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Malaysian student studying the LLM in International Law (Conflict, Security and Human Rights), MA Criminal Justice and Crime Control or MA Incarceration Studies, based in Hull
  • 1 x Mexican student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Thai student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Turkish student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme
  • 1 x Vietnamese student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme

Eligibility
To be eligible for a University of Hull– GREAT Scholarship 2023 – all applicants must:

  • Be a national and hold a passport from the respective countries included within this scholarship
  • Have received an offer of study on a postgraduate taught degree programme at the University of Hull
  • Have achieved, or working towards, a 2:1 degree or equivalent in their undergraduate programme recognised by the University of Hull
  • Have achieved IELTS 6.5 overall, with 5.5 in each skill or equivalent before the application deadline
  • Have not previously studied in the UK
  • Have completed a University of Hull – GREAT Scholarship 2023 application form and have answered the following questions (maximum 250 word limit per question):
    • What skills and knowledge have you gained to date and how will they help you to achieve success in your chosen field of study?
    • How does the course you have applied for at the University of Hull fit with your interests and future plans, and how will the qualification enhance your career?
    • What extra-curricular activities have you engaged in and how has this contributed to your personal development?
    • How will the knowledge and leadership skills you acquire as a student of the University of Hull enhance the development of your country?
