The MSc in Physics and MSc in Astrophysics programmes are research-led Master degrees designed to offer students the opportunity to pursue Physics and Astrophysics topics at an advanced level, working with experts from the School of Physics and Astronomy.
Students who successfully complete the taught portion of the course in the autumn and spring terms will be offered the opportunity to undertake a 4 month research project, which can be located either internal to the School of Physics and Astronomy with one of our own research groups, or externally in placement with one of our industrial partners.

Funding
The awards are available for students on either programme, to a value of £3875 and will be allocated on a competitive basis. This award can be used in conjunction with other funding sources, including the Master’s Excellence Scholarship awards offered by Cardiff University. Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply for both schemes.
Eligibility
Academic criteria: Applicants must hold a 2:1 in a relevant subject. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a high level of mathematical, physical and computational ability. Residency: This studentship is open to students of any nationality. Students classified as international for fee purposes have to self-fund the difference between home and international fees.

Consideration is automatic on applying for MSc Physics or MSc Astrophysics, with a start date of September 2016 via Cardiff University’s Online Application Service. In the funding section, please select “I will be applying for a scholarship / grant” and specify that you are applying for School Funding.
