Musicians Institute USA

The Al Bruno Memorial Country Guitar Scholarship, was created to honor the legacy and career of Country great Al Bruno (MI’s first Country Guitar instructor), is awarded to students to assist aspiring Country, Pop/Country and Bluegrass guitarists (newly enrolling AA Guitar Program students) with their educational development.

  • Available to international students and U.S. citizens.
  • Scholarship applicants must have submitted the Application for Admissions by the scholarship application deadline and must be entering the program for the first time.
  • May only be applied to the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) Program. Certificate and MI Select programs are not eligible.
  • The total scholarship amount will be $1,000 each and credited towards the first quarter’s tuition.
  • Scholarships are non-transferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or start date other than the one for which it was awarded. Current / returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

Requirements & Checklist:

  • Scholarship application- printed copy or PDF.
  • DVD or YouTube video which must contain at a minimum: three (3) songs (in Country, Country/Pop or Bluegrass styles on your instrument). It is required that this include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) solo piece. You may use electric and/or acoustic guitars.

For programs beginning: Fall 2016
Deadline is: August 26, 2016
Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

Recordings and application forms may be submitted in one of the two following approved formats:

1) All physical application materials (DVD video and printed application form) must be submitted in a complete package and mailed via U.S. Postal Service to: Musicians Institute Scholarship Department, Student Support Center 6752 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028

IMPORTANT: DVDs must be a disc playable on a computer, (Blu Ray,flash drives) will not be accepted.

2) All electronic application materials (YouTube links and PDF attachment) must be submitted in a complete package and emailed to: scholarships@mi.edu

IMPORTANT: Video file attachments or other links (QuickTime, WMV, Dropbox, AVI, etc.) will not be accepted.

Applicants must choose either physical OR electronic formats and may not combine application formats
