Joe Bonamassa Blues Guitar Scholarship, Musicians Institute, USA

The Joe Bonamassa Blues Guitar Scholarship (sponsored by the Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation) was created in honor of legendary Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa to directly encourage and support the educational growth of a newly enrolling Blues guitar student at MI.

The Joe Bonamassa Blues Guitar Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded to an intermediate or advanced student (U.S. or non-U.S. citizens) in the AA or B.M. or M.M. in Performance (Guitar) program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, passion for the instrument and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in the Blues genre.

AWARD

  • Award is $1,600 tuition credit to be applied to the first quarter of the program.

ELIGIBILITY

  • New or currently enrolled AA, B.M. or M.M. (Guitar) students only.
  • Available to international students and U.S. citizens.
  • May only be applied to the Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Performance (Guitar) Program.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (fulltime status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in the program for the full duration of the scholarship will result in withdrawal of the award.
  • Previous winners of this scholarship are not eligible.
  • Scholarships are nontransferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or start date other than the one for which it was awarded.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

  • YouTube video URL: YouTube video of you performing three (3) songs in the Blues genre on the electric and/or acoustic guitar. It is required that this include two (2) ensemble (live band or duo, and/or pre-recorded play-along tracks format) performances; and one (1) unaccompanied guitar performance (No play-along tracks will be accepted for the solo piece).
