Melodic Soloing Scholarship, Musicians Institute, USA

The Melodic Soloing Scholarship was created to recognize and support the creative skills, talent, tone and taste required to play improvised melodic guitar solos in any style. The scholarship is generously funded by an MI Guitar Program alumnus (GIT class of 1980) and is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of a newly enrolling Associate of Arts (Guitar) program student.

AWARD

  • Award is $1,500.00 tuition credit to be applied to the first quarter of the program.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Newly enrolling AA (Guitar) students only.
  • Available to international students and U.S. citizens.
  • May only be applied to the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) Program. Certificate and MI Select programs are not eligible.
  • Current/returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (full-time status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Guitar) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.
  • Scholarships are nontransferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or start date other than the one for which it was awarded.
  • Current/returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

  1. YouTube video URL: Video must contain at a minimum: you performing three (3) songs that clearly demonstrate your improvisational melodic soloing abilities in any genre on the electric and/or acoustic guitar.
  2. Applicants are required to include three (3) live ensemble (band or duo) performances.
