For 2019 entry the School of Pharmacy are offering five scholarships for international students for each year of the undergraduate 5-year Pharmacy programme. Each of the five scholarships are to the value of a £3,000 reduction in tuition fees for each of the 5 years of study on the course at the University of Birmingham UK campus.
Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible, candidates must:
- have made an application to study on the 5-year MPharm Pharmacy programme through UCAS
- have received an offer of a place to study on the first year of the 5-year MPharm at the University of Birmingham. You must also have put Birmingham as your firm choice for 2019 entry
- be entering the first year of the 5-year MPharm Pharmacy programme based at the UK’s Birmingham’s campus
- be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship
- be self-funding and have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK
- not be in receipt of a full tuition fee from any other source
- be studying full-time and at the Birmingham UK campus (not distance learning)
Who we are looking for
You should have an excellent academic background, meeting or exceeding your offer criteria.
You should also demonstrate excellence in an area of your life; this might be outstanding academic achievement, exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities (such as sport, music, managing events or societies) or significant achievement gained either in your working life or through volunteering and service to others.
You should be able to demonstrate why you are interested in study pharmacy in the UK, and at the University of Birmingham.
Terms and conditions
- £3,000 per annum will be awarded to successful applicants. Scholarships are not paid directly to successful applicants but will take the form of a fee reduction at the beginning of the programme
- To retain the scholarship students must gain a minimum of a 2:1 (60%+) in each year of study. Should these grades not be achieved, the scholarship will be withdrawn for the remainder of the programme
- Scholarships are available to all privately funded international applicants categorised as overseas for fees purposes
- Scholarships are only available for applicants beginning their programme in September 2019 and cannot be deferred
- Applicants in receipt of support from other funding bodies which wholly cover their tuition are not eligible
- Applicants must meet or exceed the conditions of their offer to be awarded the scholarship. Applicants who do not meet their offer will not be awarded the scholarship
How to apply
To be considered for an award, applicants must do both of the following by 30 June 2019:
- Have made an application to study on the 5-year MPharm Pharmacy programme. Applications must be made through UCAS.
- Completed the Pharmacy International Undergraduate Scholarship application form
Successful applicants will be notified by 31 July 2019.
