- Personal statement. This should include research skills, experience and why you want to do a PhD (500 words max)
- Outline of your proposed research (500 words max)

Funding and eligibility
UK, EU and international student applications are welcome. All opportunities are based at our Stoke-on-Trent campus.
Successful applicants will receive a fee waiver to the value of Home/EU student PhD fees, with some receiving an additional full tax-free stipend of £14,296, and others a partial stipend of £5,000 for three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
Entry requirements
You’ll have at least a 2.1 honours degree and/or Masters level qualification in a relevant discipline.
Decision
All applications will be reviewed. We’ll consider your:
- Focus of research interest and/or our supervisory capacity to support your proposed research.
- Eligibility and preparedness to undertake doctoral research (e.g. previous qualifications and experience)
- The viability, impact and relevance of your research interest to our new research institutes.
Decisions on applications will be communicated via email and we envisage interviews will take place w/c 17 October 2016.
Successful applicants will be expected to start on 3 January 2017, subject to meeting all standard entry criteria.
