PhD Studentship: Control of Waste Heat Recovery System in Heavy Duty Truck
Applications are invited for a full-time PhD studentship in the School of Engineering and Informatics, University of Sussex. The University of Sussex is a top 20 university in the UK, just less than one hour by train to Central London.
This studentship focuses on modelling and control of waste heat recovery systems used to capture the heat from the exhaust and coolant of internal combustion engines in heavy duty trucks to produce some forms of usable mechanical or electrical work. The successful candidate will develop control algorithms that constantly adapt to the heat source variations due to different driving conditions in order to maximise the fuel efficiency of the engines in heavy duty trucks in both simulation and real-time experiments.
