Psychology / Psychopharmacology Scholarships, University of the West of England, UK

University of the West of England UKCaffeine consumption has been associated with improved performance and reducing fatigue, as well as performance deficits associated with extended performance and reduced sleep. Recommended adult consumption may be up to 400mg daily, although some groups such as pregnant women are advised to have lower average consumption. There is current interest into the effects of caffeine consumption through sports drinks. The proposed programme of work will include both consumption surveys and experiments assessing cognitive effects and physical/sports performance of caffeine and caffeinated beverages.

This PhD studentship will provide the opportunity for a motivated and capable student to generate new knowledge regarding caffeine consumption through surveys, together with the assessment of caffeine/caffeinated beverages in controlled studies.
