Rennesha Patterson Vocal Musicianship Scholarship, Musicians Institute, USA

Musicians Institute Hollywood USARennesha Annette Patterson’s life is nothing short of a beautiful melody. Born in San Francisco, California on September 18, 1986, Rennesha always had a passion for music—as a young girl she loved to sing and perform, whether at home in the living room or at her grandmother’s church in the choir. At the age of seven, Rennesha was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Despite undergoing chemotherapy and having a leg amputated, she always refused to put dis- in her ability. After earning her high school diploma, Rennesha moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue her dream of being a vocalist.

She began attending Musicians Institute in 2009 and during her time here, she touched many lives with her kindness, love, compassion, and a big smile that would light up any room. Many people never even knew she had cancer. Rennesha used her experience to reach out to others to inspire them. She never dwelled on the loss of her leg and always said ‘life is a gift; keep on going.’ Rennesha Annette Patterson departed this life on Friday, July 13, 2012 in Santa Monica, CA. She will be greatly missed and we honor her legacy with this award.
