Musicians Institute and Schecter Guitar Research have created the Schecter Synyster Gates Guitar Scholarship to assist Advanced Heavy Rock and Metal guitarists with their educational development.

The scholarship details and criteria are as follows:

  • On Schecter Synyster Gates Guitar Scholarship Guitar Scholarship will be awarded annually to a new student enrolling in the Associate of Arts (Guitar) program (continuing students are not eligible).
  • U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are eligible.
  • Scholarship applicants must have already submitted an Application for Admission by the scholarship application deadline.
  • The scholarship may only be applied to the Associate of Arts (Guitar) Program. Bachelor Degree, Certificate and Non-Certificate enrollments are not eligible.
  • AWARD: The total scholarship amount ($2,500) will be divided into two equal awards of $1,250 to be credited toward tuition for the first two quarters of enrollment as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.
  • One new Schecter Synyster Gates guitar.
  • Scholarships are non-transferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or enrollment date other than the one for which it was awarded.

Requirements & Checklist:

  • Scholarship Application- printed copy or PDF.
  • DVD video or YouTube video of you performing three (3) songs on your guitar in the Heavy Rock or Metal genre. It is required that two (2) songs are live ensemble (band or duo) performances (no tracks), and one song is solo unaccompanied guitar (no backing tracks or band).

Application Deadline
For programs beginning: Fall 2016
Deadline is: August 26, 2016
Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

Recordings and application forms may be submitted in one of the two following approved formats:

1. All physical application materials (DVD video and printed application form) must be submitted in a complete package and mailed via U.S.

IMPORTANT: DVDs must be a disc playable on a computer, (Blu Ray,flash drives) will not be accepted.

IMPORTANT: Video file attachments or other links (QuickTime, WMV, Dropbox, AVI, etc.) will not be accepted.
