Seymour Duncan Bass Scholarship, Musicians Institute, USA

The Seymour Duncan Bass Scholarship was created to honor innovative music legend Seymour Duncan and will be awarded in Fall2018 to an intermediate or advanced student (U.S. or non-U.S. citizens) enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Bass) program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, passion for the instrument and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in any style or genre. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need.

Award

  • Award is $2,000.00 tuition credit ($1,000 per quarter, for the first two consecutive quarters of the program).

Eligibility

  • Newly enrolling AA (Bass) students only.
  • Available to international students and U.S. citizens.
  • May only be applied to the Associate of Arts in Performance (Bass) Program. Certificate and MI Select programs are not eligible.
  • Current/returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

Requirements

  • Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (fulltime status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Bass) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.
  • Scholarships are nontransferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or start date other than the one for which it was awarded. Current/returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

  • YouTube video of you performing three (3) songs in any genre on the electric bass. It is required that this include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) bass solo performance. No play-along tracks will be accepted.

  • YouTube video of you clearly explaining why you should be considered for the scholarship. Describe the extent of your financial need and any other monetary factors you consider relevant.
