Newcastle University UKNewcastle University is delighted to announce three scholarship awards for Indonesia for students commencing postgraduate studies in September 2014.

The Newcastle University ASEAN Scholarship merit-based award is partial tuition fee scholarship with a value of £3,000 for Indonesian nationals who intend to register for postgraduate studies (one year Master’s programmes) at Newcastle University, commencing in September 2014.

Successful applicants will be awarded a partial tuition fee scholarship of £3,000 in their chosen postgraduate programme and the value of the scholarships will be credited to the student’s tuition fee account to reduce the overall cost of tuition fees.

The University awards the ASEAN scholarships on the basis of academic merit and other information which can be found on the postgraduate ASEAN scholarship application form (the application link can be found in the how to apply section below).

Eligibility
Applicants must fulfil below requirements to be considered for this award:

  • be a national of (or permanently domiciled in) Indonesia
  • have submitted application and been offered a place for academic year 2014/15 on a postgraduate (Master’s) programme
  • have been assessed as international (overseas) for fees purposes
  • not be in receipt of any other fully-funded or partially-funded scholarship or sponsorship
  • have submitted a scholarship application form

The Tan Chay Bing Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship designed to attract new talent, promote excellence and develop leaders in the arts and creative industries.

Eligibility

  • Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and students from ASEAN countries (ASEAN countries refer to Brunei Darusalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam)
  • Applicants must have been offered a place in a full-­time Diploma or BA(Hons) programme for the August 2014 intake
  • Non-­recipients of any other scholarships or bursaries/ financial aid awarded by external organisations
  • Non-­Singaporean students from ASEAN countries must be eligible for the MOE Tuition Grant and agree to sign a Tuition Grant Deed and work in a Singapore-­registered company for three years after graduation

Singapore Scholarship for ASEAN Countries – Singapore Cooperation Programme

The Singapore Scholarship was announced by then Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Goh Chok Tong at the 6th ASEAN Summit in December 1998.

National University of SingaporeThe Scholarship is awarded to students from the other ASEAN member countries and tenable for a full-time undergraduate degree course at one of the three universities in Singapore. All disciplines except for Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture and Law are open to Scholars. The duration of each Scholarship is for three or four years, depending on the discipline.

The award is based on academic merit and places will be allocated by open competition. If necessary, a one-year bridging or foundation programme, in addition to the undergraduate studies, will be provided.

There is no bond imposed on the Scholarship by the Singapore Government. The Scholars are expected to return home to contribute to the development of their countries upon graduation.

Eligibility
Citizens of ASEAN member countries (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the Singapore Scholarship.

The coming year of 2015 marks a very important milestone for all ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries in that we shall be integrated to become one single community. The ASEAN Community consists of three pillars: ASEAN Economic Community, ASEAN Political and Security Pillar and ASEAN Socio- Cultural Pillar. Higher education has an important role in supporting the establishment of ASEAN Community and preparing ASEAN people and countries for the regional integration. Knowledge of science, technology and innovation is one of key factors in sustaining economic growth, enhancing community’s well-being and promoting integration in ASEAN. To push forward to build a strong science and technology base for ASEAN as a single integrated economy, and to ensure ASEAN to remain globally competitive, ASEAN member countries have to move up the technology ladder and focus on enhancing their capability for technological innovation in many areas.

Since its establishment, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has constantly proved itself to stand in the forefront of higher education institutions in the country and the Asia-Pacific region. China / AUN Master & Doctoral Scholarships for ASEAN Citizens

China/AUN Scholarship is a full scholarship program provided for ASEAN member countries by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE). MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.

Categories of Applicants

  • Master’s Degree Students: 2-3 academic years
  • Doctoral Degree Students: 3-4 academic years

The instruction language could be either Chinese or English. Applicants who apply for courses instructed in Chinese are required to take one-year Chinese language course prior to the academic study if their Chinese is not qualified. Only by passing the examinations of the Chinese language course, could they start their major studies. For those taking the Chinese language preparatory courses, the scholarship duration will be extended automatically for one year.

Scholarship students should complete their study within the due time; duration for scholarship specified at the time of admission cannot be extended in principle.

Applicants shall apply to the ASEAN University Network Secretariat between January and the beginning of April, 2012.

ASEAN-Korean Youths Asian Cross-Cultural Exploration (ACCE) Camp Programme

Asian Cross-Cultural Exploration (ACCE) Programme is a project between the ASEAN University Network and Multicultural Education and Research Institute (MERI), Yeungnam University. The programme intends to promote the exchanges and mutual understanding of ASEAN-Korean youths, and establish an on-line cultural community. This programme is composed of 2 sub-programmes. The first sub-programme is what can be called the ASEAN-Korean youths’ Asian Cross-Cultural Exploration (ACCE) Programme. This programme invites youths of ASEAN countries to the Republic of Korea (ROK), giving them an opportunity to exchange and reciprocate with youths of Korea. They will have the opportunity to explore the culture of Asia (music and art culture), to experience cultural diversity in this region, and to search for the possibility of creative harmony of Asian culture.

The second sub-programme attempts to establish an on-line ASEAN-Korean cultural community by making the best use of youths who participate in the ACCE Programme.

Thus, it is expected that this programme will contribute in its own way to the creation of East Asian community, particularly the socio-cultural pillar of the community, by enhancing the mutual understanding and awareness among the young peoples of ASEAN countries and Korea of each other’s culture.

  • Programme type: A youth camp to promote the communication and cooperation among the participating youths of ASEAN and Korea and to encourage mutual understanding among them of their music and fine arts

Master Fellowship in Comparative and International Disability Policy, Thailand

Fellowship Opportunity for Master’s Degree in Comparative and International Disability Policy
Institute on Disability and Public Policy

The Nippon Foundation will provide full fellowships including tuitions, books, required assistive technology and other support services, to a small group of individuals with disabilities to pursue graduate studies (Master’s level) in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIPD), beginning in August 2011 at the recently establishment Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) for the ASEAN region. This program will be offered entirely online, with the exception of a two-week residency held at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand July 18th-29th. The applications deadline for the scholarship and degree program is June 10, 2011.

The aim of the IDPP is to serve as a regional resource to both public and private sectors. The institute will develop a cadre of leaders who will work to foster public policies consistent with the overall vision of the ASEAN Socio-cultural Community. That is an inclusive, barrier-free and rights-based region where people who are disabled are leaders in the determination of their own destinies.

The IDPP fellowship committee is currently recruiting a small number of candidates who have
