Study in KoreaGlobal Korea Scholarship is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea in pursuit of academic degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.

[Embassy Track]
Korean government invites 81 international students from 67 countries who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Korea. To be selected as a GKS grantee, any applicant should successfully pass through the 1st selection process set by the Korean Embassy of his or her country of origin.

[University Track]
Korean government invites 104 international students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree and also 15 international students who wish to pursue an associate degree in Korea. To be selected as a GKS grantee, any applicant should successfully pass through the 1st selection process set by the designated regional universities.

Please contact the first round of selection organizations (embassy or university) to get detailed information regarding the application submission such as application deadline, required documents, interview and etc. Application submission deadline may differ by each embassy or university that conducts the first round of selection.

Program Objective
The Korean Government Scholarship Program is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students with the aim of promoting international exchange in education, as well as mutual friendship amongst the participating countries.

Total Number of Grantees: 780

  • KGSP Quota Reserved for the Embassy Track: 470 Candidates (General + Korean Adoptees, Overseas Koreans).
  • KGSP Quota Reserved for the University Track: 305 Candidates from 80 Countries.
  • Research Program: 5 Candidates

Korean government invites 120 international students from 66 countries who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Korea.

To be selected as a KGSP grantee, any applicant should successfully pass through the 1st selection process set by the Korean embassies of his or her origin.

So to apply for the program, please contact the 1st selection organizations to get detailed information on the 1st selection process such as application deadline and required documents, etc.

*Application deadline may differ from one country to another; it will be expected to fall in September or early October.

2016 KGSP for International Students for an Undergraduate Degree (via the Regional Universities)
Korean government invites 25 international students from 66 countries who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree(Engineering or Nature Science majors) in Korea.

To be selected as a KGSP grantee, any applicant should successfully pass through the 1st selection process set by the designated regional Unversities.

So to apply for the program, please contact the university to get detailed information on the 1st selection process such as application deadline and required documents, etc.

Dormitory Exclusively for Graduate Students
Daegu University offers rooms in the International House exclusively for graduate students in order to enhance their academic achievement and research. All Global Korea Scholarship students may elect to stay in the International House. Currently there are 60 graduate students staying in 30 rooms. Each room is equipped with a washing machine, a refrigerator, a TV and a balcony. There are 15 restaurants available on campus so it is easy for students to find food that suits their taste.

Additional Information (Support for GKS Students)

Administrative support
Daegu University provides it’s full cooperation to the offices charged with offering services for Global Korea Scholarship Students. Through the International Education Support Team and the International Student Services in the Office of International Affairs, Daegu University provides full support to Global Korea Scholarship students including academic counselling, dormitory management, immigration services, life counselling and a variety of other administrative support. As a result, Global Korea Scholarship Students feel less culture shock and are able to enjoy their study abroad experience at Daegu University. Moreover, in the Office of International Affairs and the Graduate School Administration, office members and assistants who can speak English, Chinese, Mongolian, Vietnamese and other languages have been staffed to help students communicate and ensure that they are content in their daily lives.
