University of Nottingham UKHuman Rights Law Centre is pleased to announce two scholarships for our International Human Rights Law Short Course running from 1 October 2018 until 7 December 2018.

What is the Anamax Charitable Foundation Scholarship?
A Chemistry graduate of the University of Nottingham and his wife, a lawyer, have established scholarships to assist overseas students in International Human Rights Law.

The scholarships are to be awarded to candidates from developing countries in which increased awareness of human rights can be seen to be needed and who would return home to work in human rights. The Anamax Charitable Foundation Scholarships (up to the value of £2,750) will cover:

David Goldman PhD Scholarship, Newcastle University, UK

The scholarship is offered as a three year PhD studentship for a full time student undertaking a PhD in Business Innovation focussed on research into the Future of Work and starting their studies in 2018/19. This studentship is available to someone with a very strong academic background and research focus in a discipline area from one of the Newcastle University Business School Subject Groups. Passion and capability for interdisciplinary research is also required.

Specific projects could include:

  • Gender and leadership in the globalized neoliberal university
  • Understanding the gender pay gap in academia
  • Athena SWAN accreditation and its unintended consequences on gender (in)equality

These will be interdisciplinary opportunities drawing on management, accounting, economics, sociology, anthropology and education.

The Goldman endowment to Newcastle University Business School was established in 2001 to commemorate the life and work of David Goldman, founder and Chief Executive of the North East’s iconic software company, the Sage Group plc. David Goldman had played a leading role in transforming the economic fortunes of the North East region.

The Pat Hicks Memorial Guitar Scholarship was created to honor Musicians Institute cofounder Pat Hicks, and will be awarded in Fall 2018 to an intermediate or advanced student (U.S. or non-U.S. citizens) enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, passion for the instrument and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in any style or genre.

  • Award is $1,500.00 tuition credit to be applied to the first quarter of the program.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Newly enrolling AA (Guitar) students only.
  • Available to international students and U.S. citizens.
  • May only be applied to the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) Program. Certificate and MI Select programs are not eligible.
  • Current/returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (full-time status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Guitar) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.
  • Scholarships are nontransferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or start date other than the one for which it was awarded. Current/returning students in any MI program are not eligible.

The Seymour Duncan Guitar Craft Scholarship was created to honor innovative music legend Seymour Duncan and will be awarded in Fall 2018 to a student (U.S. or non-U.S. citizens) newly enrolling in the Guitar Craft Academy (GCA) program who clearly articulates their career goals within the music products industry and demonstrates verifiable financial need. The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the GCA program only, and may not be transferred to other programs.

The Hosa Technology Audio Engineering Program Scholarship is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of a newly enrolling Audio Engineering Program student.
