ASF Scholarships, Amsterdam University College, Netherlands

Applications for ASF Scholarships are open to all students (Dutch and international). The AUC Scholarship Fund offers two types of ASF Scholarship: Full scholarships: EU students: EUR 5000 per year Non-EU students: EUR 15,000 per year Partial scholarships: EU students: EUR 2500 per year Non-EU students: EUR 7500 per year.

The AUC Scholarship Fund Board, consisting of representatives of the sponsors and AUC, is responsible for the selection and decides whether the applicant gets a full or a partial scholarship, following a recommendation from the ASF Selection Committee.

The ASF Scholarships are paid to the student in 12 monthly instalments. Please note that the scholarship cannot be used as a (partial) tuition fee waiver; students are responsible for paying the tuition fee themselves.

Selection criteria
Candidates wishing to apply for an ASF Scholarship must meet the following requirements.

  • Candidates must have submitted a complete application for admission to AUC. For more information on applications and admissions, see links in left-hand menu.
  • Candidates must have excellent school results and a strong motivation as reflected in their application and recommendation forms. The selection committee will also look at extracurricular accomplishments and activities relevant for AUC, as well as the future leadership profile/skills of the candidates.
  • Candidates must demonstrate financial need (provide proof that it is financially impossible for them to study at AUC without a scholarship).

IBM PhD Fellowship Program, Worldwide

The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Program is an intensely competitive worldwide program, which honors exceptional Ph.D. students who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. These include: computer science and engineering (including cyber security, cloud, and mobile computing), electrical and mechanical engineering, physical sciences (including chemistry, material sciences, and physics), mathematical sciences (including analytics of massive scale data with uncertainty, operations research, and optimization), public sector and business sciences (including urban policy and analytics, social technologies, learning systems and cognitive computing), and service science, management, and engineering (SSME). Additionally, IBM pays special attention to an array of focus areas. For details on the focus areas, see frequently asked questions.

Preference will be given to students who have had an IBM internship or have closely collaborated with technical or services people from IBM.

University of MelbourneThe Human Rights Scholarship is awarded to local or international applicants wishing to undertake graduate research studies at the University in the human rights field and who are able to demonstrate their commitment to the peaceful advancement of respect for human rights.

Number
Each year the University of Melbourne offers 2 HRSs to applicants wishing to undertake a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.

Benefits & conditions
Human Rights Scholarship benefits include:

  • a living allowance of $28,000 per annum (2013 rate)
  • a Relocation Grant of $2,000 awarded to students who are moving from interstate in order to study at the University of Melbourne or $3,000 awarded to those who are moving from overseas
  • Thesis Allowance of up to $420 (2013 rate) for masters by research and up to $840 (2013 rate) for PhD and other doctorate by research candidates, and
  • paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.

Fees
Please note that the HRS does not cover international graduate research degree course fees.

Local graduate research degree HRS recipients are not charged course fees as they are allocated a Research Training Scheme (RTS) place. RTS places exempt students from the Higher Education Contribution (HECS) Scheme. Time limits and other conditions apply to RTS places. Hedley Bull Scholarships for MA International Relations, Australian National University, Australia

Australian National University ANUThe Graduate Studies in International Affairs program offers up to four Hedley Bull Scholarships each year for full-time study in the Master of Arts (International Relations) commencing in semester one. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Master of Arts (International Relations).

When applying for the MA (International Relations), eligible applicants for the Hedley Bull Scholarship should include a covering letter indicating their interest in being considered for the scholarship and making the case for being granted one. The covering letter together with the application for the MA (International Relations) (including transcripts and three academic references) will be considered as the full application for the scholarship. There is no need to provide a separate application. The scholarship provides a full-fee waiver for three full-time sessions (semesters). This amounts to 48 units of graduate coursework and a 24-unit thesis session.

Admission requirements

MA (International Relations) (MAIR) and Master of International Affairs (MIA)
Applicants for the MIA or MAIR programs should normally have obtained at least a Distinction average in a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Honours, or the equivalent. The degree should be in any discipline of the social sciences or the humanities, although exceptional candidates with degrees from other fields will be considered. As a guide, Distinction refers to an A/B+ average, 2(1) Hons in the British system or 14/20 in the French system.

Applicants with a Bachelors degree may be made an offer to enter the Graduate Certificate in International Relations (GCIR) or Graduate Diploma in International Affairs (GDIA), with the possibility of transferring into the MIA or MAIR programs, if they achieve a Distinction average in the GCIR or GDIA.

Lightweight Vehicle Structures Research Scholarship, RMIT University, Australia

RMIT University AustraliaThe School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering along with the AutoCRC are collaborating to investigate research in lightweight vehicle structures.

Value and duration
The scholarship is valued at $25,000 per annum (tax free) for 3 years plus $10,000 to support an internship in Germany for the first year.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen, Australian permanent resident or an international student
  • have completed 1st class honours (or equivalent)
