KIMEP International Summer School Scholarships, Kazakhstan

KIMEP is a unique institution in a fascinating place. At the KIMEP International Summer School, you will take classes in business, law, or the social sciences taught by an international faculty from the United States, UK, France, Japan and India. You will take classes in English, and have the opportunity to learn Russian. You will meet the people of Kazakhstan, as well as dozens of other international students.

Kazakhstan is a society at the crossroads of Russia, China, and the Middle East. It is also one of Asia’s most diverse countries and fastest-growing economies. At KIMEP, you will be in the heart of Almaty, Central Asia’s cultural capital, with the Tian Shan Mountains on one side and the world-famous Kazakh steppes on the other.

I. Scholarships for international students outside Central Asia
7 merit based scholarships will be awarded. Scholarship covers expenses on tuition and dormitory.

Scholarship applicant should:

  • be currently enrolled to undergraduate or graduate program and be ready to submit transcript from his/her University (for Undergraduate) or transcript of Bachelor diploma (for Graduate);
  • GPA above 3.3;
  • write an essay on topic “Why Summer School in Kazakhstan?”, describing motivation to be a student of KIMEP International Summer School;
  • prove his/her outstanding extra-curricular activities (sport, music, dance, public life, hobbies and etc.)

Scholarships for the Public International Law and Human Rights programme (LL.M)(2011/2012)

The Riga Graduate School of Law announces Scholarships for an LL.M degree in Public International Law and Human Rights funded by the Open Society Institute (OSI). Eligible students currently are invited to apply for the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) Public International Law and Human Rights Programme. The programme provides expertise in Public International Law and Human Rights and also offers courses in European Law. The programme is competitive and very prestigious. The Programme is based at the RGSL located in Riga, Latvia. It is available to individuals with bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or related fields (or will be awarded a degree prior to admission to the programme), obtained in at least four years long studies, if basic knowledge in law and corresponding work experience is acquired; second level professional higher education, professional bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or other related fields, if basic knowledge in law and corresponding work experience is acquired. The 2011/2012 Programme starts in September 2011.

The purpose of these scholarships is to support students who have demonstrated academic excellence in law or a comparable field of study and have a demonstrated commitment to work in the field of public law, human rights, or public service.

Overview
Scholarships are available to students from Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine and South Eastern Europe and Central Eurasia regions (see eligible countries below). Each scholarship recipient will receive an amount covering tuition and fees for the LL.M study programme. An additional scholarship is allocated for travel, accommodation and incidental education expenses. Students granted a scholarship must write their master’s thesis in the field of public international law or human rights. Priority will be given to students who commit to work in any of the following areas upon completion of the programme: human rights, public law and public service. Furthermore, RGSL seeks to recruit students who have worked within an organization with which OSI has a relationship already, or students who are willing to work with such an organization upon completion of the programme. In the application, students are required to provide specific detail on their expectations work in a related field upon completion of the programme.

Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University offers International Graduate Program in English for foreign students. For September 2011 intake, we will allocate approximately 15 scholarships for Doctoral and Master`s candidates in total. Detailed eligibility is listed as follows:

As from 1994 the Government of the Republic of Cyprus has launched the Technical and Development Assistance Scheme, within the framework of which the Cyprus Government provides each year a number of scholarships of short and long duration for participation in educational courses organized by Academic Institutions in Cyprus, as part of its Official Development Assistance (ODA) strategy. All the scholarships are provided officially on a bilateral basis (from Government to Government) and are announced through the diplomatic channels.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Islamic Studies, Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Oxford, UK

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships (OCISS)
Launched in 2009, the OCIS – Oxford Scholarships support British Muslim students as well as those from developing countries in Asia and Africa to read for degrees at the University of Oxford. Under the programme, up to five scholarships each year are available for undergraduate students from Muslim communities in Britain. A further five scholarships are available for postgraduate students, at least two of whom will be UK students from Muslim communities, while the rest will be students from specified countries in Asia or Africa. The scholarships are available to students undertaking study in a range of fields relevant to the needs of Muslim societies.

Postgraduate Scholarships
Applications for OCIS – Oxford Postgraduate Scholarships for the academic year 2010-2011 are invited through the University`s normal admissions procedures. The scholarships cover University and college fees and a grant for living costs. An application for a scholarship is made at the time of completion of the Graduate Application Form. Eligibility and Conditions
