King’s College London is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, learning and understanding in the service of society. We look for students who are pursuing higher learning so that they can play a part in making the world a better place.

What is the Desmond Tutu Scholarship?
There will be a total of 18 scholarships available to all students starting undergraduate study at King’s College London in September 2016.

Each scholarship will be paid as a cash bursary of £1,000 and scholars will be invited to a number of events throughout the year including a welcome dinner for all Desmond Tutu scholars hosted by the VP Education.

Students wishing to apply for the scholarship need to have received an offer to study at King’s and must submit an essay and application to the Student Funding Office by 17:00 GMT Friday 31 March 2017.

How much is the Desmond Tutu Scholarship?
There are a total of 18 scholarships available, each worth £1,000.

The scholarship is payable in year one of your course of study and will be paid to as a single cash bursary in October 2017.

Am I eligible for the Desmond Tutu Scholarship?
All undergraduate degree students starting at King’s in 2017, who do not already have a previous degree from a UK, EU or international institution, are eligible to apply, though the following selection criteria will be applied to each applicant:

King’s President’s International Scholarships, King’s College London, UK

King's College London UKThe Graduate School at King’s College London is offering up to 20 scholarships to international students who wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate Masters degree programme in any discipline at King’s College London commencing in the 2016/17 academic year.

Eligibility criteria

  • Open to residents of the following countries All Nationalities (except UK & EU)
  • Be due to commence a full-time postgraduate Master’s programme at King’s College London in the 2016/17 academic year;
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at the international/overseas (higher) rate;
  • Have achieved or be predicted to achieve a 1st class undergraduate degree or equivalent in advance of commencing their chosen postgraduate Master’s programme;
  • Fulfil the relevant academic and English proficiency entry requirements set by King’s College London;
  • Have submitted all the required application materials by the funding deadline (as outlined in the PGT Guidance Document attached below)

Please note that:

  • Students who are already registered on the respective postgraduate programme are not eligible to apply;
  • Students who will pay tuition fees at the Home/EU rate are not eligible;
  • These scholarships cannot be held on a part-time basis;
  • For programmes longer than 12 months duration, the scholarship will be paid during the first year only;
  • As the award provides partial funding only, applicants must be able to confirm that they have/are seeking the means to support any outstanding fees/costs not covered by this scheme, i.e. through other funding awards or self-funding.

King’s International Masters Scholarships (KIMS), King’s College London, UK

King's College London UKThe Graduate School at King’s College London is offering up to 6 scholarships to international students who wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate Masters degree programme in any discipline at King’s College London commencing in the 2014/15 academic year.

Information about the application
Applicants will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Academic merit / degree qualifications;
  • Professional qualifications achieved;
  • Strength of statement of justification;
  • Applicant’s future plans, and what they plan to do with the postgraduate taught degree;
  • Confirmation of other funds sought/secured, whether from other scholarships or family/self funds. Note that preference may be given to applicants who have already secured some ‘partial’ funding from alternative sources towards the cost of the postgraduate taught degree programme;
  • Preference may be given to students who have not previously undertaken a postgraduate degree programme.

The Graduate School selection panel will be asked to provide details of the selected candidate, plus a list of reserves candidates by mid May 2014.

Candidates who are deemed ineligible by the PGSS office for any of the Graduate School PGT funding schemes, as covered by the online PGT funding form, will be informed about their ineligibility within 3 weeks from the Graduate School application deadline.

Eligible applicants who have been considered for the King’s Alumni Scholarship award will be informed about the outcome of their application towards mid/end of May 2014.

Candidates who are selected for the awards will be asked to provide a decision on acceptance/decline by a given deadline. If the a successful candidate fails to respond by the given deadline or declines the offer, their award will automatically be transferred to a reserve candidate who is next in-line for the award.

The Department of Mathematics is pleased to be able to offer a studentship to be awarded to a student of mathematics studying for the PhD.

All PhD applicants to the KCL Mathematics Department will be automatically considered for this, providing that they have applied before the yearly deadline, normally 1 February. No separate application form is required. It is normally for around £2000 and the decision is usually made in April.

King's College London UKThe King’s Summer School Scholarship scheme is being launched in 2013 for students intending to study on the 2013 King’s College London Summer School.

What is the Summer School Scholarship?
This Summer School scholarship scheme is being launched in 2013 for students intending to study on the 2013 King’s College London Summer School.

Twelve Summer School scholarships are available to cover full tuition fees of £1,350 each. Students must have received an offer of a place on the 2013 Summer School.

Applications will be considered on academic merit only. Academic grades and the supporting statement will be used to make final decisions.

The scholarships are for study on the 2013 Summer School programme and may be applied to any confirmed Summer School course (subject to availability). These are not attached to any particular course of study. Scholarship winners will be required to take part in promotional activities to promote the scholarship scheme and the Summer School.

Am I eligible to apply?
The scholarships are designed to offer assistance to outstanding candidates who will benefit from the King’s Summer School experience. Applications are open to Home/EU or international applicants.

King’s Annual Fund Studentship (KAF), King’s College London, UK

King's College London UKThe Annual Fund studentship is made possible thanks to the generosity of alumni, friends, staff and former staff of the College who make gifts to sustain and further King’s as a centre of excellence. Money from the Annual Fund supports studentships for postgraduate research students at King’s College London, as well as funding projects across the College such as facilitating teaching innovations and promoting extra-curricular activities.

Biomedical Engineering Scholarship, King’s College London, UK

The College will be offering a total of 7 scholarships worth £18,000 each to students starting in 2013 on the new Biomedical Engineering undergraduate programme.

What is the Biomedical Engineering Scholarship?
The Biomedical Engineering scholarship will offer a £6,000 fee waiver for each year of study (years 1 – 3) to successful applicants. This represents a total scholarship worth £18,000.

For Home and EU students this means that tuition fees for each of your first three years will be just £3,000 (subject to slight inflationary increase each subsequent year).

For international students, this will be a reduction in your tuition fees of £6,000 for each of your first three years.

Am I eligible to apply?
Biomedical Engineering Scholarships will be open to all applicants who hold an offer a place on the BEng programme at King’s starting in 2013.

Liberal Arts Undergraduate Scholarships, King’s College London, UK

This undergraduate scholarship scheme is being launched in 2012 for students undertaking the new BA Liberal Arts at King’s College London.

The School of Arts & Humanities will be offering up to five Liberal Arts Scholarships of £15,000 each (£5,000 per annum) to those successfully applying for entry into the BA Liberal Arts in September 2012.

The scholarships are designed to offer assistance to outstanding candidates who are in need of extra financial support to undertake the degree.

Scholarships will therefore be awarded on the basis of:

  • the strength of candidates’ applications, particularly their academic achievements and
  • the applicant’s financial assessment

Applications are open to both UK and international applicants.

Scholarships are worth £15,000 each, payable over 3 years. This means that you will receive £5,000 in each of your three years of study (repeat years or breaks in study will not be funded), and will be dependent upon continued satisfactory academic progress and attendance.

Northcote Graduate Scholarships, Australia – UK

The Northcote Graduate Scholarship scheme is administered by the Menzies Centre for Australian Studies, King’s College London, on behalf of the Northcote Children’s Emigration Fund.

Scholarships are to enable students normally resident in the United Kingdom to undertake a higher degree at an Australian university for a period of up to three years. Applicants must ascertain their eligibility for an Australian graduate programme. There are no limitations as to the field of study. The scholarship will provide economy class return air fares to Australia, payment of compulsory fees and charges at an Australian university and an inclusive allowance of around A$20,000 per annum. Successful candidates must make the outward journey within the first calendar year of the award being granted.

Applications must be supported by:
a) a statement from the applicant on the nature of the proposed course and/or the research project/dissertation (approximately 2 sides of A4);
b) two references from persons in a position to assess the academic potential and character of the candidate;
c) a statement from the host institution in Australia indicating that the research can be appropriately pursued there, and that the candidate is eligible for admission, and has been given provisional acceptance;
d) a statement demonstrating why the study must be undertaken in Australia;
e) a curriculum vitae.
