David Edge MSc Studentship, University of Edinburgh, UK

The David Edge studentship provides support for a full-time student in either the MSc Science and Technology Policy and Management or the MSc Science and Technology Studies at the University of Edinburgh. The studentship is awarded by ISSTI in honour of the life and achievements of Dr David Edge (1932-2003).

The studentship covers the costs of the University UK/EU fees for the one-year full-time course plus research expenses. Applications are welcome from within or outside the European Union, but the studentship does not cover the full costs of fees for non-EU students.

Eligibility
Applications for the David Edge studentship are welcome from all those who submit by the end of April an application for entry in the following September to the MSc Science and Technology Policy and Management or the MSc Science and Technology Studies at the University of Edinburgh, and are eligible to apply for that programme. Applicants are welcome from within or outside the EU.

Applying
Applicants for the David Edge studentship are asked to submit:

  • a short statement explaining their motivation for taking the MSc programme;
  • a short paper, ideally of up to 2000 words, on a topic of their choice in the social and policy aspects of science and technology – this may be an assignment submitted for a previous course, or a new paper.

Master of International Affairs in Peace and Conflict Studies Scholarships 2011

The Graduate Studies in International Affairs (GSIA) program in the Australian National University College of Asia and the Pacific, in partnership with the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) and Bjørknes College, offers one scholarship each year for full-time study in the Master of International Affairs specializing in Peace and Conflict Studies degree program. Tuition fees will be covered by The Australian National University and Bjørknes College; and students will receive some funding towards living costs as a stipend. Please be aware that it may take up to four weeks after arrival in Canberra before you receive your stipend payment. Recipients of the Oslo Piece Scholarship should come prepared with their own personal funds to support them for this period.

Oslo Peace Scholarship, Australian National University, Australia

The Anne van den Ban Scholarship Fund, previously known as the `Stichting Redelijk Studeren` (Sharing Responsibility for Students), is named after Dr. Ir. Anne van den Ban, former Professor of `Voorlichtingskunde` (Rural Extension) at Wageningen University. The fund was founded in 1992 by two Wageningen alumni.

The scholarship fund enables promising students from developing countries and from countries in Middle and Eastern Europe to study at Wageningen University. As a result, it contributes to the education of competent and motivated local experts, who can then play a leading role in solving the structural problems of their country in agricultural production, rural development and the environment.

Every year, dozens of students apply to the fund. Your contribution can enable even more students to begin or complete a study at Wageningen University.

The University of Cyprus announces the granting of 25 scholarships for postgraduate Master’s degrees and PhD in the academic year 2011/2012. The scholarships are for postgraduate courses (beginning study in September 2011) and their aim is to develop and strengthen the relations and cooperation of the University of Cyprus with the Cypriots expatriates and to attract a large number of foreign students. The scholarships cover all the fields of study and are addressed to Cypriots expatriates and to foreign nationals (from non EU countries).

1. Five (5) out of the 25 scholarships will be allocated to Cypriot applicants who are permanent residents of Australia in order to strengthen the cooperation with the Australian Homogeny.
2. Three (3) out of the 25 scholarships will be granted to students from the University of Gjirokastra (Argyrokastro) – Albania.
3. One (1) scholarship will be granted for strengthening the Orthodox Teachers College in Kenya.
4. The other sixteen (16) scholarships will be allocated to Cypriot applicants who are permanent residents in foreign countries and to foreign nationals from non EU countries.

The Master in Business Design is an innovative format of MBA, aiming at creating new and intense relations between the world of business and design.

Born in 2003 at Domus Academy in Milan, Italy, MBD represents a laboratory where designers, managers and entrepreneurs work in synergy on the creation of a new strategic language and operative code for business and market.

Business Design is based on the idea that design is at the core of the business and its main driver. The objective of the Master is to train students on how to bring innovation and creativity, quality and effectiveness into products, services and social organizations.

The MBD master program working activities are aimed to apply creativity to non-design business context, like systems and organizations, social business, leisure and tourism, consumer goods, food.

The project consists on an analysis of the innovative content of a company, a product or a reference brand. Candidates must select a case they consider creative in their home country, define the driver of innovation and explain the context and the features that motivate the choice.

Candidates can refer to the following list of drivers of innovation to select and describe the case they consider of interest :

  • New pattern recognition: creation of new aesthetic languages, through a well – identified product identity.
  • Sustainable innovation: creative way to carry out social change and environmental innovation.

Professor Stuart Wilson Scholarship, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, UK

Two scholarships are available, one for an overseas fee-paying student and one for a UK/EU fee-paying student, for the full-time MA South East Asian Studies at SOAS for the academic session 2011/12.

The scholarship for the overseas fee-paying student is intended to off-set the tuition fees at the overseas rate. The scholarship for the UK/EU fee-paying students is intended to off-set the tuition fees at the UK/EU rate*. (*Please note that this scholarship does not cover the Equal Learning Qualification – ELQ fee.
