To recognise academic excellence, the Strathclyde Prestige Award for Excellence in Media & Communication offers international students a merit-based scholarship of £5,000 for entry onto the full time MLitt in Media & Communication.

Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, students must;

  • Be available to commence their academic studies in the UK by the start of the academic year in September 2019.
  • Hold a first degree at first class or upper second class honours, or equivalent.

Media Transition Doctoral Scholarships, University of Technology Sydney, Australia

University of Technology Sydney is offering scholarships to research the effects and implications of disruption and transition in the media sector. Students will work with the Centre for Media Transition, an interdisciplinary unit established to explore and develop responses to the dramatic and ongoing movements wrought by digital disruption to the media industry.

To encourage interdisciplinary research, the scholarships are being offered as a joint initiative of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and the Connected Intelligence Centre. Candidates will be enrolled through one of the faculties but will work on an interdisciplinary project. Candidates’ research topics need not directly cross all these disciplines, but preference will be given to proposals that include elements from at least two disciplines.

The successful candidate will be awarded $27,000 per annum over 4 years. All scholarships at UTS are dependent upon ongoing satisfactory academic progress.

How to apply
Applications for the Media Transition Doctoral Scholarship must be submitted by 31 October 2017 for commencement in Autumn session (January 2018). Applicants for the scholarship must also apply and be admitted to the PhD degree at UTS. International students must apply for admission to a PhD degree by 30 September 2017, while new domestic students must apply by 31 October 2017.

The Wincott Foundation Journalism Scholarship, Cardiff University, UK

We are delighted that The Wincott Foundation offers a one-year full fee scholarship for a post graduate Masters student at School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies.

The Scholarship is to support excellence in financial and business journalism and is available to any student with a place accepted on one of Cardiff’s practise-based vocational Masters courses. During the course they will be expected to focus on business and financial reporting in their elective module and projects.

Business, Finance and Economics journalism is an area of specialist expertise of growing importance. As such, for graduates with a focus on these areas there are very strong employment opportunities.

It’s about more than market reporting. As Luigi Zingales, professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, put it in his Wincott Memorial Lecture in 2015:

Erasmus Mundus Master in Journalism, Media and Globalisation Scholarships, Europe

The Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Journalism, Media and Globalisation welcomes applications from graduate students around the world. You can apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, or as a self-funded student.

European students who are granted a Mundus scholarship will have to study module 5 and 6 in the spring semester at one of our international partner universities: University of California at Berkeley; University of Technology Sydney; and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

We will have a number of Study Abroad places for the 2014-16 programme and, as we are not going to have that many Mundus scholarships for European students, we will arrange for an application process after course start in Aarhus for those students who are interested in a Study Abroad experience. This application process will be open to both EU and non-EU students.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
The Mundus Journalism Consortium is able to offer a limited number of ‘Erasmus Mundus’ student scholarships for students entering the programme from 2012 – 2016. The scholarships are divided into category A and B scholarships. For the 2014-16 edition of the Mundus Journalism programme the consortium will award:

Erasmus Mundus Category A scholarships for third country (non-EU) students
Category A scholarships are expected to be worth €48,000 for the 2014-2016 programme.
