MS/PhD Scholarships, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia

KAUST requires a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on the IBT (Internet Based Test) or 6.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). The KAUST admissions code is 4107. Only official TOEFL or IELTS scores will be accepted. TOEFL or IELTS scores for tests administered by an educational institution for admission to that particular institution are not acceptable.

A TOEFL or IELTS score is not required if the applicant received a degree from an accredited institution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.

KAUST does not require the GRE exam for admission. However, we strongly encourage students to take the GRE general test. A high quantitative score on the GRE will enhance a student’s application. Official test results should be sent directly from ETS. The KAUST admissions code is 4139. The average GRE quantitative score for admitted students is currently 774 out of 800.

Submit an official complete university Transcript/ Mark sheets/ Graduation Certificate/ Academic Record from every institution previously attended. A scan of the official transcript provided by the university in the native language must be uploaded into the online application along with the certified English translation. Your transcript must include the university grading scale for all documents submitted. If offered admission, an official final transcript must be sent to the Office of Admissions prior to arrival (during the onboarding process) in a sealed envelope to:

IDB-KAUST Joint PhD Scholarships, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia

The IDB-KAUST PhD Scholarship Program was established in 2012 within the scope of the IDB Merit Scholarship Program and the KAUST PhD Program. Under the scholarship program, citizens of IDB member countries are eligible to apply for the scholarship to study at KAUST for a full-time 4-year PhD. The Program is jointly funded by IDB and KAUST to award 5 scholarships annually. The scholarship is a fully funded program as per the KAUST rules and procedures will be supported throughout the eligible duration of the study program. The General Diploma in Arabic as a Foreign Language is a 60- credit hour program offered in 4 semesters of full-time study. The program is intended to develop students’ linguistic competence in all four language skills (Listening – Speaking – Reading and Writing). This will enable them to use the target language by direct contact in real life situations. Students who successfully pass with honors official assessments will be awarded a diploma certificate in Arabic as a foreign language (DCAFL). Our program mainly employs the” Arabic between Your Hands” series, published by the foundation of “Arabic for all”.

Admission Requirements:

Candidates should be 17-25 years old.
Applicants should provide required documents, and get statement showing his/ her country approval to study in KSA.
Applicants should never receive any other offer of scholarship from any Saudi Institution.
Applicants should provide an official statement of good conduct and never convicted of criminal acts.
Candidates should never be dismissed from any Saudi Educational Institution.
All Documents need to be authenticated in accordance to university regulations.
Candidates need to pass medical inspection.
Applicants should obtain General Secondary Certificate or equivalent.

Admission Procedures:

Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology (MSP), Islamic Development Bank, Saudi Arabia

The Programme was launched in 1413H (1992), named The IDB Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology’ (MSP).

Objective and Scope
The objective of the programme is to develop technically qualified human resources in the IDB member countries by providing scholarships to promising and outstanding scholars and researchers to undertake advanced studies and research in the fields of applied science and technology needed for the development of the member countries.

The Programme offers scholarships for study and research at two levels: (i) 3-year Ph.D. study/ research, and (ii) 6-12 months of Post-Doctoral research.

Concept
The concept is to assist the needs of the IDB member countries and their institutions in developing high quality and hi-tech human resources in science and technology areas that they are lacking but crucial for their development.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must meet the following basic criteria:

Age not over (a) 35 years for Ph.D. study, and (b) 40 years for Post-Doctoral research;
Attached to a research/academic/development institution in science and technology in their respective country;
Must possess the required academic background in the related field of their proposed study/research and have some professional/research experience in the respective field;
Demonstrate that the research proposal has scientific and technological relevance with the objective of meeting the priority development needs of the country;
Have good command of the language of the institution of study and the ability to conduct scientific work in it.

IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development, Islamic Development Bank, Saudi Arabia

The Islamic Development Bank established the IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development in 2006 in alignment with the recommendations of the IDB Women`s Advisory Panel. The Panel is composed of 12 prominent women recognized as leaders in their fields who advise the Bank on how to enhance women`s participation in the socioeconomic development process. The Prize is awarded annually in order to draw international attention to the vital role women play in developing their communities and the world.

AWARD
The Prize consists of two cash awards:

U.S. $ 50,000 for a woman or a group of women
U.S. $ 100,000 for an organization

The Prize is awarded during the Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors.

CRITERIA
The general criteria applied in selecting and assessing nominations for the Prize for both individuals and organizations include the following;

Impact Individuals and organizations nominated should exhibit projects that have contributed to the improvement of the socio-economic status of women and helped them to build their capacities.

Creativity Individuals and organizations nominated should have projects/activities that are outstanding, innovative and unique.

Outreach Individuals and organizations nominated should have mechanisms for extending their projects/activities to surrounding areas to ensure their services are offered to as many women as possible.

Sustainability Individuals and organizations nominated should have projects/activities that are sustainable.
