    • You must not be a sponsored student*.
    • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying online or via distance learning are not eligible for a scholarship.
    • Part-time students will receive the equivalent value of the scholarship split pro-rata over the duration of a single full-time academic year.
    • This scholarship is not available to students on the BA Business Management Joint Programme with SBC (course code MGTU36).
    • For scholarship purposes all MArch programmes are considered as postgraduate taught programmes and are not eligible for this or any undergraduate scholarships.
    • This scholarship cannot be deferred to a future year of entry. If you decide to defer entry to another year you forfeit this award.

University Prize Scholarships, University of Sheffield, UK

University of Sheffield, UKEach year the University offers a small number of University Prize Scholarships to the very best PhD applicants. If you’re among the brightest and best in your field, we want to hear from you.

These scholarships are open to applicants in all subjects. You can read about some of our current University Prize Scholarship holders on our scholarship holders page.

Award details
For new PhD students starting in 2018-19 (after 1st October 2018), the University Prize Scholarships will pay:

  • full tuition fees (UK, EU or Overseas)
  • an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend of £20,000
  • a Research Training Support Grant of £2,500 per year for study visits, conferences, books, consumables and equipment.

These scholarships fund up to three years full-time or six years part-time study, subject to satisfactory progress. Part-time studentships are paid at 50% of the full-time rate (i.e. £10,000 maintenance per year).

Eligibility

  • You should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent.
  • You should be applying to start your first year of study on a full-time or part-time PhD with the University.
  • Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants.

The Science International Scholarship 2018 is worth £2,500 per year, subject to the following eligibility and award criteria:

  • You must not be a sponsored student*.
  • The scholarship cannot be awarded in-conjunction with any funding (full or partial) from an external sponsor**, excluding a loan, which has to be paid back in full.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying online or via distance learning are not eligible for a scholarship.

History MA Scholarships, University of Sheffield, UK

University of Sheffield, UKThe Department of History is pleased to offer two £9,000 scholarships for students starting our History MA programmes in September 2017.

Award details: each award is worth £9,000 and can be used towards fees and/or living expenses.

Eligibility: these awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants who are applying to study either full-time or part-time. You need to have applied to a History MA programme for entry in September 2017 to be eligible to apply to this funding scheme. This application will be considered alongside the references and transcript from your course application. Awards will be made on academic merit.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their scholarship application early July 2017.

Deadline: 5pm, Friday 16 June 2017.

Home and EU applicants – please note that the outcomes of the Sheffield Postgraduate Scholarships (SPS) will be taken into account and where applicants are successful in the SPS scheme that outcome will supersede the application to this scheme. It is not possible to hold both a scholarship from the SPS scheme and a History MA Scholarship.

Advanced Placement Scholarships, University of Sheffield, UK

We offer three scholarships for those students taking Advanced Placement tests. Each scholarship is worth 50% of the annual undergraduate tuition fee.

Eligibility and award criteria

  • Applicants must have taken or be planning to take a minimum of three Advanced Placement tests (AP).
  • Applicants must have applied for and been offered a study place at the University of Sheffield to be eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicants must apply for a study place by Friday 14 April 2017 for entry in September 2017 to be eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The scholarship will not be available to applicants who have made the University of Sheffield their insurance choice.
  • The scholarship application is a separate online process to applying for a course. A link to the online scholarship application will be sent by email to all eligible students from January onwards.
  • The scholarship will be awarded on the the basis of academic merit and the supporting statement. The final decision will be made by an academic panel.
  • The scholarship is guaranteed in the first year of study and you can also receive this in each subsequent year of study, subject to achieving 60% or above in the previous academic year. This excludes any years in industry or study abroad periods. This applies to all undergraduate programmes except Medicine and Dentistry. Students of Medicine or Dentistry will only receive the scholarship for the non-clinical years (Medicine years 1 & 2 and Dentistry year 1)
  • The scholarship can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Sheffield scholarships as long as the individual does not become fully funded, for tuition fee purposes, as a result of the sum of these awards.
  • The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction only.
  • You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
  • The scholarship will not be awarded where partial funding is applicable from an external body* and there is an agreement already in place between the external body and the University of Sheffield to offer a tuition fee discount to the student.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying online or via distance learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
  • Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.
