Chevening Chevening is the UK Government’s global scholarship programme that offers future leaders the unique opportunity to study in the UK. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding professionals from your country and beyond to pursue a one-year master’s degree in any subject at any UK university.

How to apply
Applications for 2019/2020 Chevening Scholarships are open from 6 August. They close on 6 November 2018 at 12:00 GMT.

Applications can only be submitted using the Chevening online application system, available through the ‘apply’ button on this page.

Required documents
Prior to starting your application for a Chevening Scholarship please ensure you have the following ready:

  • Valid passport/national ID card
  • University transcripts and degree certificates (undergraduate, postgraduate)
  • Three different UK master’s course choices
  • Names of two referees who know you in a professional or academic capacity

Please note that if you are shortlisted for an award, you will be required to log into the online application system and request a reference from your referees. The request will generate an email to the referees and they will need to submit the reference by Monday, 25 February 2019. If your referees do not submit by this deadline, you will be unable to proceed with an interview.

MPhil / PhD Studentships, University of Southampton, UK

University of Southampton, UKSouthampton Business School has studentships available for postgraduate research students admitted full time onto its MPhil/PhD programme and commencing their studies in October 2016. The studentships will last for a maximum of three years (subject to an annual review of progress) and will provide a maintenance allowance of £14,000 per annum, in addition to payment of tuition fees. The awards are available in research areas including accounting, finance, international banking, corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, innovation management, strategy, human resource management, organisational behaviour, health management, information technology and systems, risk management, logistics and transportation, supply chain management, marketing and consumer behaviour. Please note the following

  • Tuition fees will be paid at home/EU level or international level as determined by the University.
  • To be eligible for consideration, the full application must be submitted by the submission deadline of 29 February, 2016. This includes the standard application form, research proposal, CV, and other supporting documentation (transcripts, reference letters, IELTS certificates where necessary, etc.).
  • You will also need to allow time for your prospective supervisor(s) to provide a statement of support, and to participate in an interview (the interview may take place shortly after the application deadline of 29 February, 2016).
  • These studentships are for full time candidates only. If you are awarded this studentship and transfer to part time registration, you will be deemed to have withdrawn from the studentship.

International MSc and MBA Scholarships, University of Southampton, UK

University of Southampton, UKThe Southampton Management School is pleased to be able to offer the following Scholarships for applicants on our full-time MSc programmes or the full-time MBA programme for 2014 entry. All these Scholarships are in the form of a tuition fee reduction.

We are delighted to announce that we are offering scholarships of £3,000 and £5,000 to students who have been offered a place on one of the School’s MSc programmes or the MBA programme starting September 2014.

To qualify for one of our £5,000 scholarships you must have a 1st class or the equivalent GPA from your country.

To qualify for one of our £3,000 scholarships you must have a 2:1 or the equivalent GPA from your country.

If you are successful in gaining a place with us, when we send your offer letter to you, we will also write to you to let you know you are eligible for one of our Scholarships. Providing you accept our offer of a place on either the MSc or MBA programme and meet all the conditions of your offer, we will confirm your Scholarship, and the amount you are to be awarded, before the programmes start in September 2014.

Please also note that this Scholarship is only for 2014 entry and if you are unable to take up your place this year and subsequently re-apply for 2015 entry, this Scholarship will not automatically carry over until 2015 entry.

University of Southampton, UKThe Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton is generously offering two Scholarships to International candidates applying for BSc Healthcare: Management, Policy and Research.

The award will be for £2000 in each of the three study years of the degree (years 1, 2, & 4: total value £6,000 over the course of the programme). The award will be deducted from programme fees.

This is a competitive scholarship based on academic merit and financial need.

Making an application:
Applicants must provide a written response of not more than 500 words to the question: “If you were to improve one aspect of health care provision in your home country, what would it be and why?”

LLM International Scholarships, University of Southampton, UK

LLM International Scholarships 2012-13
The School of Law is delighted to be able to offer up to 7 International Scholarships of £6750 each for applicants to the LLM programmes for the academic year 2012-13. The seven scholarships include one entitled the “Knox and Morrison” scholarship, kindly sponsored by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

Key points:

  • Scholarships are open to applicants to any of the LLM programmes other than the distance learning ones who meet the criteria below.
  • The awarded value of Scholarships is £6750 each.
  • They are open to any applicant to the LLM Programme (regardless of the particular LLM stream) who meets the criteria below.
  • These Scholarships are offered at the discretion of the School of Law and the decision as to the awards are final and not open to review. The School reserves the right not to award all or indeed any Scholarship(s) in any particular year.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The Scholarships are limited to applicants from the following countries: Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Panama, Thailand, Venezuela and Vietnam.
  • The applicant must have unconditionally accepted an offer to enter the LLM Programme for 2012-13 and that unconditional acceptance must be received by the School of Law before 31 May 2012. Once the School of Law has received the applicant’s unconditional acceptance of our offer, the applicant will be invited to complete a short application form for one of these International Scholarships.
  • The applicant must demonstrate high academic merit and all decisions as to the award of Scholarships will be based on academic merit.

European Master in Embedded Computing Systems (EMECS) Scholarships, Erasmus Mundus, Europe

The European Master’s Course in Embedded Computing Systems (EMECS) is designed to educate Bachelor graduates from Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science as well as graduates from related disciplines to become experts in the field of Embedded Computing Systems. The participating institutions are:

  • University of Kaiserslautern (TUK), Kaiserslautern, Germany Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering
  • Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway Faculty of Information Technology Mathematics and Electrical Engineering
  • University of Southampton (UoS), Southampton, United Kingdom School of Electronics and Computer Science

EMECS is a two-years Master`s course (120 ECTS credits) that is pursued at two out of the three participating institutions. Students will spend one year at each of the selected universities and will receive a joint degree from the respective institutions. The language of instruction is English. Students participating in this program will be trained in three major areas:

  • Hardware Architectures of Embedded Systems
  • System-on-Chip Design
  • System Software

Admission Requirements
The applicant must hold at least a B.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related programme. At the time of application preliminary transcripts are accepted.

The Panasonic Trust Fellowships 2010, UK

On 2 October 1997, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd marked the 25th anniversary of the founding of Panasonic UK Ltd by generously donating a further £500,000 to the Panasonic Trust to enable it to broaden its activities in the professional development of UK engineers. Income generated by these funds was has been used to support the Panasonic Trust Fellowships since 1998.

The objective of the Fellowships is to provide financial support to selected graduate engineers wishing to study full-time Masters’ degree courses in subjects with a bias towards energy, sustainability, infrastructure, environmental technology and water resource engineering. Each Fellowship has a financial value of £8,000.

Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the award of a Panasonic Trust Fellowship an individual must:

  • be a UK citizen;
  • be qualified to degree level in engineering or a closely related discipline;
  • have membership at any grade of a professional engineering institution accredited by the Engineering Council as a licenced member institution;
  • have some industrial experience, which may be from a sandwich course work placement or a ‘year out’ before commencing university;
  • not be in receipt of an EPSRC or other award to study the respective course.

School of Education Scholarships for International Students, University of Southampton, UK

Every year, university staff visit overseas to meet and advise students who may be interested in studying at Southampton. International Office staff can provide you with information, advice and assistance from the moment you start considering whether to study in the UK, right through to making your application and registering at the University.

Required competency in the English language: guidance for applicants to the School of Education

If the IELTS (or equivalent) is below 5.5 (or equivalent), the application will not be considered, although you may reapply when you have obtained a score nearer or above our minimum score of 6.5 (or equivalent).

If the IELTS (or equivalent) is 5.5 or above (or equivalent), but below 6.5 (or equivalent), the application will be processed in the usual way but any offer will be made conditional upon attending and being successful in an intensive language course of appropriate duration in the University’s Language Centre, and on subsequently getting 6.5 (or equivalent) or above in IELTS (or equivalent).

If the IELTS (or equivalent) is 6.5 (or equivalent) or above then no language competency condition will be attached to your offer.
