A scholarship for exceptional international students. Up to $40,000 scholarship to support high-achieving international students to pursue coursework studies at the University of Sydney.

How to apply
No application is required, as all eligible students who have secured an unconditional offer of admission by the following dates, will be automatically considered:

Semester 1, 2024

  2. Round 2: 1 November 2023
  3. Round 3: 8 January 2024

Semester 2, 2024

  1. Round 1: 1 March 2024
  2. Round 2: 15 April 2024

The University of Sydney Business School is committed to helping our international students achieve their education goals. These scholarships will reward exceptional students with the opportunity to study abroad in Australia.

A total of 85 scholarships ranging from $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000 will be awarded each year to commencing international undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students.

Faculty of Science Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship, University of Sydney, Australia

Funded by the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney, this Scholarship aims to support outstanding higher degree research students with their studies.

Open to:
Applicants who have either a conditional or unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a Masters by Research or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney;

Applicants who are currently enrolled in the final year of at least a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Science or relevant discipline area, or an equivalent degree (combined undergraduate, Honours or Masters Program) at a non-Australian university, with at least 25% of the final year of the degree being a research component;

Applicants who have achieved a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) equivalent to a grade of 85 at the University of Sydney;

Applicants may not be an Australian/New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident; and

Applicants must separately apply for a Research Training Program (RTP) Fee Offset and Stipend Scholarship at the University of Sydney. Applicants cannot however be in receipt of an alternative scholarship that also provides tuition support and/or a primary stipend allowance.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Optical Spectroscopy, University of Sydney, Australia

This scholarship is available for the project on Optical Spectroscopy in the research group of Dr Girish Lakhwani in the School of Chemistry. The aim of the project is to identify materials that can efficiently transfer energy across long distances. The project will involve spectroscopic characterisation of advanced semiconductor materials and their performance in devices such as optical switches and sensors.

The PhD student awarded with this scholarship will join a multidisciplinary research team, with strong interactions with other research groups and institutions working under the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science (ACEx). The overall mission of ACEx is to examine and manipulate the way light energy is absorbed, transported and transformed in advanced molecular materials.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Astroparticle Physics / Cosmology, University of Sydney, Australia

An opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar in the area of astroparticle physics/cosmology in the School of Physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.

Open to:
Applicants must have applied for admission or currently enrolled in full-time studies in a PhD within the School of Physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney, and be willing to undertake research in the field of astroparticle physics/cosmology.Applicants must hold a Master of Science or Master of Philosophy degree in a related field, or equivalent.

Value and Duration:

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Biotechnology, University of Sydney, Australia

This Scholarship supports a PhD candidate at the School of Life and Environmental Science to undertake research in regenerative stem cells as new therapeutics in the clinic at the Charles Perkins Centre in collaboration with the Applied Plasma and Surface Engineering group at the University of Sydney.

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a PhD within the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney and be willing to undertake research in the development of high surface-area-to-volume functional materials for biomedical applications.Applicants must also hold an Honours degree, Master of Science, or equivalent in Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related discipline.

Value and Duration:
The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance of $26,694 per annum (fixed rated) for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. No extension is available.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Organic Electronics, University of Sydney, Australia

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar to undertake research in organic electronics. The aim of the project is to identify design rules for improved organic photovoltaic devices.The project can be tailored for the successful candidate, to range from a purely theoretical study, focusing on multiscale modelling of disordered organic-semiconductor devices to a combination project spanning both theoretical modelling and experimental device characterisation using state-of-the-art spectroscopic facilities.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Organic Lasers, University of Sydney, Australia

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar to undertake research in optical spectroscopy.
