Full details
University of Essex Psychology Doctoral Scholarships terms and conditions
Please read the full terms and conditions before applying for or accepting a scholarship or bursary. They contain important information about eligibility, how you’ll receive your funding and whether this award can be combined with others or not.
If you’re a current student looking for information about an award you received, see our terms and conditions for previous years.
How to apply
If you’ve applied for a full-time SeNSS studentship starting in 2017-18, you’ll automatically be considered for our Essex Psychology Doctoral Scholarship and don’t need to complete a separate application form. However, you’re advised to read the terms and conditions of these awards and which departments are offering them.
University of Essex Doctoral scholarships don’t cover SeNSS 1+3 applications, but you’ll be considered for an Integrated PhD course if there is one appropriate for your studies. All successful Integrated PhD applicants would have to fund their first year.
If you haven’t applied for SeNSS funding
You need to apply for admission to the University via our online postgraduate application form. If you haven’t applied for a SeNSS studentship you should complete the University of Essex Psychology Doctoral Scholarship application form (.docx). Please note that you must be applying for a new programme of study at the University of Essex, starting in October 2017, in order to be eligible. Applications for the University of Essex Psychology Doctoral Scholarship must be submitted by 17 January 2017.
After you apply
Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on:
- academic ability – based on previous academic qualifications
- research potential – based on the candidate’s research proposal submitted with their application, as well as their statement on the scholarship application form
- professional development potential – based on the candidate’s skills, aptitudes and potential to support their department’s undergraduate teaching or research activities
If your application has been successful you’ll be notified by early April by our Funding Team. If you have any queries please email funding@essex.ac.uk.
